Business Immigrant Tours of Eastern Ontario
Eastern Ontario Communities have worked aggressively with the Business Immigration Section of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) to host a series of Business Immigrant Familiarization Tours.

The purpose of the tours is to introduce new Business Immigrants, in search of business and investment opportunities, to rural Eastern Ontario communities.

Economic Developers at the municipal government level worked with MEDT to bring two tours to fruition in May and October of 2007. Two previous tours were made in May and November of 2005, hosted by the Community Futures Development Corporations (CFDCs) of South East Ontario in participation with Industry Canada.

Tourism Business Investment Partnership Strategy Workshops
Tourism offers ample opportunity for economic development. However, most communities have never looked at tourism beyond visitor marketing and few have assessed its investment potential like other industries. If you want to attract new tourism investment you need to assess your competitive position and, in some cases, you will need to invest a little money to get in the game. This program will benefit communities interested in improving their working relationships with private property owners, developers and investors in the tourism sector. The goal now is to invest time and resources to get communities ‘investment ready’ in preparation for the launch of an Eastern Ontario partnership program in 2007-2008. This initiative is supported by the Eastern Ontario Opportunity Action Plan.
